Meet Dr. Mahadev Bhalla, MD FRCSC
Dr. Bhalla has a strong interest in comprehensive ophthalmology, including cataract surgery, glaucoma, retinal disease, and collaborative care with community optometrists. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of British Columbia, where he served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Bhalla brings a strong foundation in clinical research to his practice, with over a dozen peer-reviewed publications in journals including the Journal of Glaucoma and the International Journal of Retina and Vitreous, and presentations at international conferences such as the World Ophthalmology Congress and ARVO. His research contributions were recognized with the Constance Eden Dingwall Scholarship in Ophthalmology, the Clinical Resident Research Award, and Best Presentation by a Resident Physician at UBC's Annual Research Day.
He is a member of the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) and has contributed to global eye care through outreach missions in Mongolia and India, supporting local ophthalmologists and expanding access to care in underserved communities.
Dr. Bhalla is fluent in English, Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi. These language skills allow the clinic to better serve the diverse communities of Delta, Surrey, and the Fraser Health region.

Where can I park when I visit the clinic?
Free on-site parking is available for all patients in the parking lot behind the clinic.

Will my visit be covered by MSP?
If you are covered by MSP, medically necessary eye exams, cataract assessments, and surgery are covered under the BC Medical Services Plan. Premium lens upgrades for cataract surgery (such as toric or EDOF lenses) involve an additional out-of-pocket cost beyond what MSP covers, but we'll walk you through pricing during your consultation.

Do I need a referral to see Dr. Bhalla?
Yes. As a specialist ophthalmology practice, we see patients by referral only, typically from a family doctor or optometrist. Once we receive your referral, our booking team will contact you directly to schedule an appointment.
